A Few Words For My Critics...

Some people have never tried. They have never achieved anything of worth. They have never accomplished anything remarkable. They just live automated lives from day to day. They operate like lifeless machines until suddenly their fuel tank is empty and everything comes to a creaking, grinding, heart wrenching stop.

A life without challenges, without new horizons, without pushing yourself to the next level is simply not one that's worth living. Do you wake up in the morning pumped up? Do you feel the adrenaline in your veins? That rush of blood to the head? Do you feel the joy of facing the world head-on? The thrill of facing the unknown?

If you don't then you are simply not alive. You are a dead man walking. You live for the moment. Nothing can fill that gaping hole in your heart, that hole in your existence. You are like an empty barrel but worse - an empty barrel in an ocean. You are floating around. You are tossed around helplessly by every wave and every puff of wind.
The irony is that weak people in their ignorance like to criticize others. They love to look down on those who have conquered mountains they cannot climb. That mountain is fear.

You fear the unknown so you refuse to explore. You fear your own weaknesses so you refuse to build strength. You fear the challenges of change so you refuse to work on yourself. You fear the strengths of others so you refuse to make friends. You fear the risk of failure so you refuse to try. You fear the challenges of success so you refuse to embrace hope. You fear the fear itself. Fear haunts you and blinds you. It leaves you hopeless and helpless.

You envy those who live in affluence. You envy those who can live life on their own terms. You envy those who are not worried about the next meal or how to meet their basic obligations. You feel inside you that there must be some magic wand, some buried pot of gold which will magically transform your life. Of course, there are those who meet fortune by chance or by committing some illegality or by compromising their values. But as surely as the sun sets so too shall their ill gotten wealth slip through their fingers like grains of sand and their misery shall have no end.

It is true that some of us are still not quite there. We are still struggling to attain our lofty goals. It can be difficult at times. You make incredible sacrifices and suffer much. You fall down but then quickly you get right back up and keep moving forward. It is worth it. The prize is worth the risk. When you know you have made right choices you cannot afford to go back.

Better to die than live a life without meaning.
